Advisory xxx: Footswitch failure, replace footswitch.
When you have an error with the footswitch on the ALCON INFINITI, chances are the problem can be remedied very easily. Check to see if their is any debris under the heel of the treadle. Sometimes the cord or some foreign object gets lodged and keeps the pedal from reaching the maximum settings. 
If the failure of the footswitch is not clearing, this may signal a problem with the footswitch or the connecting cord. If you have another footswitch, swap the footswitch only and see if the problem persists. Keep the connecting cord attached to the system and disconnect at the footswitch. If the error clears, then you know it is the footswitch for certain. You will have to send the pedal out for repair or exchange.
If the error still persists, then swap out the cord only and keep the original footswitch with the INFINITI SYSTEM. If the error clears, now you know the problem is with the connecting cord. We suggest the footswitch first (if you have a spare) because it is easier to swap just the footswitch than the connecting cord. When you find the cord is the problem, contact MEDiSURG 317-663-3158 or ALCON TECH SERVICE 800-832-7827 and order a replacement cable.
If replacing the cable and footswitch does not solve the problem, you can use a footswitch from an ALCON LEGACY or ALCON ACCURUS unit. There is an additional connection inside the storage area that will accept a LEGACY or ACCURUS footswitch. If this works, then you have confirmed that the problem is in the INFINITI FOOTSWITCH, MAYBE!.
One additional part could be bad. The circuit board for the footswitch has two circuits. One for the INFINITI pedal and one for the LEGACY pedal. During the BEST Training, we go over additional test that can save thousands of dollars in repair bills. Too much detail to go into the remedy here, and it will take a higher level of expertise to check the internal parts and circuits.
